Experience
My experience
20+ years across engineering, Big-4 consulting, operating and founding — with the operating and investment responsibility that most China advisors haven't carried.
Selected facts
What the record shows
76 client engagements
Led across multiple sectors since founding Qihong Consulting in 2012 — large and small. EBITDA improved +10% on average across them, measured after execution.
20+ programs
Cross-regional digital / AI transformation programs, now embedding GenAI.
25+ delivered
Mobile, web and SaaS products — built with an in-house software team I stood up.
0 → 100K in a quarter
Scaled one brand's community from zero to 100K real fans in a single quarter.
10+ advised
Founders and startups supported on growth, strategy and go-to-market.
Angel-backed 2
Selective angel investments in the startups I advise, pairing capital with hands-on support.
The difference
Advisory vs. engagement
Most China advisory stops at the report or the presentation. The deliverable is handed over, and the client is left to figure out execution on their own — often with a team that wasn't in the room when the recommendations were made.
I work differently. The engagement isn't finished when the analysis is done; it's finished when the situation has actually moved. That means staying involved through the decisions, the stakeholder conversations, and the early execution that determines whether good analysis becomes real outcome.
What deep engagement looks like
Inside the work, not outside it
Understand before recommending
Every engagement starts from the actual situation on the ground — not from a template. I spend time inside the problem before proposing a direction.
Work with your team, not above it
Recommendations are co-developed with the people who will implement them. I sit in stakeholder meetings, align incentives, and stay present through the handoff from plan to action.
Decisions that stick
The hardest part of any China initiative isn't the analysis — it's getting the right people aligned around a decision. I engage directly with boards, investors, management teams and operational leads to bridge that gap.
Built from having operated
I've carried P&L responsibility, run teams, shipped products and managed operations in China. That experience shapes every recommendation — toward what actually works, not what looks good on paper.
Output measured by outcome
The goal isn't page count or meeting frequency. It's whether the client's situation materially improved — a decision made, a risk avoided, an opportunity captured, or an operation stabilized.
Your business stays yours
I never name a client, result, revenue, return or logo that isn't both true and cleared for publication. Across 20+ years I've led 76 client engagements in industrial, appliances, e-commerce, technology and startups — all handled discreetly.
