About

I've spent a career moving between technology, strategy, operations and investment — in and around China

That mix gives me a different read from a traditional consultant.

My path

Several lanes, not one

Most China advisors come from one lane. I've worked in several, and that's the point:

  • Engineering (Carrier / United Technologies) taught me how things are actually built — and how technology claims translate into what can be shipped.
  • Big-4 consulting (PwC / PRTM) taught me to structure a messy problem and get to the decision.
  • Founding Qihong Consulting (2012) taught me to own the outcome when the money and the risk are mine.
  • Advising founders and angel-investing taught me the gap between a pitch and a business.

The result is a perspective that starts from judgment, not a methodology. When a PE partner or a CEO needs a clear read on a China situation — market, target, portfolio company, or operating problem — I can usually tell them what matters, and why, faster than a team can be staffed.

What I am

Independent, commercial, operator-led

Independent

No products to sell

I provide an independent perspective rather than selling software, implementation or financial products.

Commercial

Decisions, not reports

I focus on decisions that affect the business, not analysis for its own sake.

Operator-led

How business runs

I combine strategic analysis with hands-on operating experience in China.

China + International

Both sides

I understand the Chinese business environment and the expectations of international investors and companies.

Senior

Direct involvement

You work with me directly — not a delegated junior team.

Discreet

Confidential by default

Investment, strategy and operating matters often require confidentiality and judgment.

Background

Founder & Managing Director

Founder & Managing Director of Qihong Consulting — 20+ years across engineering, Big-4 consulting, operating and founding. I help firms and investors from China, the EU, the US, ASEAN, Australia and New Zealand enter and operate in the China market.

Prior roles include Carrier (United Technologies) and PwC Consulting / PRTM; an MBA from the University of Oxford; and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. I advise founders and startups on growth, strategy and capital, and selectively angel-invest in the companies I advise.

My experience is the core of the engagement — not an add-on. The work carries the engagement; the judgment comes from having carried operating and investment responsibility.
